She has served as an adult/geriatric medical SLP in the Rapid City area since 2008. She is certified in eSWALLOW NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation) therapy for the treatment of dysphagia and has completed SPEAK OUT!® and Loud Crowd Training through the Parkinson Voice Project. She has completed specialized training and competencies in FEES (fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing).

Koni graduated with her Bachelor of Social Work in May 2003 from Minot State University in North Dakota. After working as a licensed social worker in skilled nursing facilities, she returned to MSU to complete her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in December of 2007.

Koni’s background and education in social work brings a unique spin to her approach to speech therapy; considering the whole person as well as their family dynamics and place in life. She truly wants each individual she treats to get the most out of every communication interaction or have as much enjoyment from eating/drinking as they can.
